ABOUT US

Annadale Energy is a development project of NineDot Energy. NineDot is a New York City-based clean energy developer focused on distributed energy resources (DERs) that help make the New York power grid cleaner, more reliable and resilient, and more affordable. NineDot was founded as CertainSolar in 2015.

Adam Cohen is co-founder and CTO of NineDot. Adam is a Ph.D. physicist who thinks of our energy system as a complex, interconnected experimental laboratory. He seeks to uncover small technical, financial, and regulatory improvements that will cause tipping points for clean energy diffusion. Prior to NineDot, Adam was Science Team Lead for Split Technology, a smart transportation start-up. Adam was a post-doctoral fellow of the U.S. Department of Energy where he launched a new research program applying social and behavioral science to scale up solar energy adoption. He earned a Ph.D. from the Chaos Group at University of Maryland and a BS in physics from Bucknell University.

NineDot is based our of the NYU Tandon School of Engineering Urban Future Lab (UFL) incubator in Downtown Brooklyn. UFL is New York City’s hub for smart cities, smart grid and clean energy.

NineDot was awarded a U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Incubator award to develop its novel business model that gaurantees utility bill savings to project subscribers.

Local Approvals for Annadale Energy

Annadale Energy has support from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Clean Energy Fund (CEF) Stationary Fuel Cell Program. Under the Clean Energy Standard (CES), fuel cells are a Tier 1 renewable electric generation source.

NYSERDA Stationary Fuel Cell Program

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Technology Management (TM) Unit performed a safety review of Annadale Energy and approved the site plans and operating procedures.

ConEdison completed in-depth technical studies of Annadale Energy to calculate the benefits and costs of interconnecting the DERs. Coordinated Electric System Interconnection Reviews (CESIRs) determined that the Annadale grid is suitable for fuel cell projects with minimal upgrades.
